Elizabeth Warren's new bill: let the US government manufacture generic versions of overpriced, unavailable drugs

There’s also a big difference between ‘realism’ and defeatism, though. The latter inspires no one, it rallies no spirits, and it brings about no change.

When you think about it, there’s really no point in living a life utterly without hope; most people actively need something good to believe in, something worthwhile and decent to fight for.

Someone else upthread made a decent point that it never hurts to keep putting good ideas out there, regardless whether they catch on right away or not.

Progress forward is a never ending struggle.

And I say all this as someone who’s definitely no “pollyanna.”

depends on how much they are being paid. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
their free market opinion isn’t free it is whatever price the market will bear.

The only thing worse than godless Communism and godless Capitalism are the religion infused versions.

indeed. a lot of the hard won progress has been made because of those uncrushable fighters who stood up for themselves and all the rest of us despite all odds and refused to be defeated or back down. the few who, didn’t give up that seat, or took that baton or gas or bullet or words or rope or stone or jail cell or worse. the people who have refused to be defeated and changed the world.

And cheat American companies of those hard-earned dollars? The invisible hand says that’s economic treason, and should be punishable by heavy fines, making generics illegal, and increasing the cost of brand pharmaceuticals. At bare minimum.

I mean… have you been to the United States recently?

First time anyone has ever referred to me or anything I’ve written as “defeatist.” Wow. Guess I didn’t come across quite like I intended. Maybe time for a break from the internets.

Well, well, well…

“The conversations paint an in-depth picture of close, frequent contact about pricing and market decisions by way of LinkedIn, phone calls, text messages and emails — all with the goal of hiking prices on a broad range of generic drugs, the lawsuit claims.”

“Common drugs had their prices doubled, tripled, or even increased 1,000% or more, costing taxpayers and patients and violating federal and state competition and consumer protection laws, the suit alleges. There is also an ongoing U.S. Department of Justice criminal investigation.”

Warren is going to be busy.

It’s never a bad idea to take a breather every now and again.

For what it’s worth, you typically don’t come across as defeatist in the majority of your comments; but we all have our moments and these are some seriously trying times.
