Note for those not reading the article: it’s not even some sort of special battery in the machine they refuse to change: it’s the standard battery in the watch that controls the machine!

Surely he must be able to find an outside shop who can change it? It’s not like that will void the warranty…

They know they have a vise grip on the customers. There was no mass exodus of users following the password sharing crackdown, despite the many threats. Subscriptions went up. It’s been proven that enshittification actually drives growth and profit for them, and they’re doubling down. This sucks.

What angers me the most is the charger had a local api and home assistant connection until just a few months ago when they took that functionality away
