The problem created is unfixable. US, CA, and UK govs need to reissue SSNs to everyone.
And even that wont’t fix the other data, like names and all.
The credit bureaus and everyone else in the financial services industry need to stop using SSN as a core security check. SSN is okay for keeping track of social security, but using it as an actual security measure is exactly the sort of systemically lax default approach to security that created the larger problem in the first place.
