I should have mentioned that the Harvard Library Innovation Lab that I co-directed has a really nice alternative library browser that incorporates some of these principles. E.g., it uses Library of Congress Subject headings as tags that you can click on to “pivot” the shelf of books your target book is on. http://stacklife.harvard.edu
