The Dutch mathematician and physicist Dionijs Burger (1892-1987), a distant relative of mine (one of thirteen men in my family tree, including my great-great-grandfather and my uncle, bearing that name) wrote a kind of sequel to Flatland called Bolland, which became Sphereland in English translation.
