if there were actual interest in developing a commercial fusion reactor, they (goverments) would throw everything they got on a scaled-up wendelstein-design stellarator and abandon the tokamaks, which after 50 years of research and multiple demos seem like a total dead-end;

the 7x works as intended so far every step of the way and its completly beyond me that they dont get funds in the tens of billions but had to fight tooth and nail for 500 million to not be shut down and actually build it.
