Two days later they had “proof” that it was Antifa who was attacking the country, thus proving these asshole bosses right.
I thought Linus named Git after Andrew Tridgell, because he blamed Tridge for losing access to BitKeeper.
I want to live in America where it is acceptable and correct to punch Nazis on-site.
This used to be the case I have no idea why this is such a hard decision for some people.
I have literally no opinion on the merits of subversion versus git, but subversion is still around.
I’m sure he doesn’t want his job back, but would love that sweet, sweet wrongful termination payment. And I hope he gets it. Twice as much as he sues for.
And the FBI is on the naughty list again because they publicly stated there was no evidence of Antifa involvement.
I hope they use that as a defense in the wrongful termination suit. Oh please, oh please, oh please!
The migration away from github started when microsoft bought it (and the story could have mentioned that this is a microsoft run company now). This nazi-coddling bullshit should hasten the exodus.
If anyone needs a different git repository site, here are 3 github alternatives:
And a Jewish person, or really most non-Anglos, seeing an armed mob with Nazi and Confederate flags coming for them, is not going stop and say, hey, where do you guys think you slot in, exactly, on the white supremacist political spectrum? I mean, I need to know if it’s technically accurate to call you Nazis.
any alternative to githubpages? I specifically need to run arbitrary javascript for free.
Are you saying he is lying or GitHub is lying?
My gif that didnt work was saying that the github decision to fire him was bullshit. Obviously not that he is lying.
Let’s hope he gets a great offer from a better company.
jsfiddle?
GitLab is open source, so you can run your own instance of it.
Sourcehut is another one that I have an eye on: https://sourcehut.org/ It still looks to be in public alpha, but the guy running the dev team is really bright and definitely not a nazi (nor would he put up with them). It’s also open source.
Never used it so I can’t speak to functionality, but gitlab has pages that should work like github’s.
You could just put the code in S3
That makes me wonder if their network auto-reported an employee using the word “Nazi” and everything flowed from there. Still stupid not to have a human conversation about it, but if that kicked it off it wouldn’t surprise me.
Operative word remains “git.”
ETA: I mean, at least it wasn’t “moist.”
Is sourceforge back on the nice list? After their adware issues in the late 00s I pretty much wrote them off as a reputable site.
im going to read the article, and - if it’s bad as it seems - suspend my daily check-ins, add to some readmes why,… but probably wait and see how this gets resolved before jumping completely
any recommends on a good alternative?
See @Scientist and my posts above!
A cheap file server works for me.
