@ashe I totally agree. Air popper works great to pop the kernels, for sure. That’s my experience. But it is the decadent flavor of the oil popped popcorn that I crave.
That’s something I’ll have to look out for. Where I can get it and it doesn’t “gut” me, I do enjoy the buttery flavor. (It’s why I love movie theater popcorn.)
Depending on the severity, some people with lactose intolerance and/or milk allergy can still use ghee, because almost all the milk solids are removed. Not sure if you’ve ever tried that.
Popping in coconut oil gives popcorn the best mouth feel but it also gives me dreadful heartburn.
For those that use oil, try ghee. Clarified butter, common in Indian cuisine. High smoke point. Gives the popcorn a buttery flavour. Keeps forever on the countertop, too.
I have no idea if ghee is good or bad, health or nor nutrition-wise.
