I love the temperature control but its high wattage (60W) makes all the difference. Clean the tip with a bit of wire mesh, not a cold sponge (will damage the plating). If you do wear this one out, treat yourself to a cheap Hakko station to celebrate your handiness.

I’ve got one of these irons and like it a lot. Spend a few bucks on a good solid stand for it, with a solder reel and a spot for your metal-wool cleaner. Being able to put the iron down or clean it without looking is almost important as having a hot tip.

If you’re going to be doing any soldering at all, save up your ducats and get a nice low-cost Hakko station.
