Oh, we’ve already reached that point, I think…
Well, after playing for a bit with a GPT3 based chatbot over at huggingface.co I am now convinced. Transcript* follows to end this once and for all:
Me: ‘Hi! Who are you?’
Definitely Sentient AI: “I’m a guy.”
Me: ‘So, you are male?’
Definitely Sentient AI: “I’m a guy.”
Me: ‘But you are a bot - how can you have a gender?’
Definitely Sentient AI: “I’m a guy.”
Me: Ok, so you are a guy’
Definitely Sentient AI: “I’m a guy.”
Me: ‘We have established that’
Definitely Sentient AI: “I’m a guy.”
Pretty clear that we are not dealing with a program here - this is a guy, and should be granted all the rights that come with being a guy (which, as we know, is all of them)
*Swear to god that this is unedited other than to add who is talking (since otherwise it would be impossible to tell who was the human and who was the AI). I wish I were lying, but it looks like the Singularity is here
