You don’t have to. It’s an open source project on Github. You can go there and look at the code yourself, if you feel so inclined. More to the point, any actual security researchers out there can look at it and point out any problems.

I didn’t get that part, and I like it. If the paranoid geeks really get to look under the hood, well, I trust them.
