Hillary Clinton simply has no fucks left to give.
Understandable!
Patti Lupone, however, does have at least one fuck left to give:
Other differences: Harris is campaigning hard in Michigan and Wisconsin instead of being complacent about winning those states’ electoral votes; Harris is treating the race as an existential struggle for democracy instead of as duopoly business as usual; Harris is happy to hit the bully below the belt instead of insisting that everyone should be civil; Harris is building on Biden’s move to the left instead of offering more played-out Third Way policies.
Clinton is right about Comey, but he’s not the only or even the primary reason she lost.
Of course the Electoral College could still throw a spanner into the works.
The Electoral College IS the spanner in the works.
Indeed, and it actually was when Clinton lost the electoral count, but won 3 million more votes.
I’m just as worried about the SCOTUS doing the job for Tromp instead, as when it stabbed Al Gore’s infant presidency to death.
The only type of abortion the GQP supports.
True if you don’t also include actual, literal, abortions by the rich and well-connected
This is Chris Christie’s advice stated on today’s The View: to close the deal, Harris needs to push her desire to work across the aisle to obtain bipartisan support for change.
Remember, most people have already made up their minds. So she’s talking to the undecideds. She needs to show that willingness. Doing this serves two purposes: it still distinguishes her from Trump’s “get even” approach. But it also gives specifics about what she’ll do as president. And that’s important to these undecideds who probably don’t want to vote for Trump, but aren’t convinced they want to vote for Kamala. She needs to convince them. And this is a simple way of doing that.
Do you honestly believe there are more than a handful of undecideds left in the country?
Maybe two handfuls, if you count those who are just undecided about whether to vote or not.
of course. the Woman of Color must convince these unicorn “undecideds” while ■■■■■ just needs to show up, shit on the stage, and count the votes.
fk you Christie, you and your double standards.
You go for as many votes as you can get. Plus, by talking these specifics, she’s also sending signals to others. People want to know what she’ll do as president. It certainly doesn’t hurt to be specific in this way.
I’ve really struggled with my feeling about Hilary over the years. I hate the idea of a legacy family (whether it’s Kennedy, Clinton, Bush or Roosevelt), but I also realize that 99.9% of the attacks on her have been both partisan and misogynistic. I think I just realized the root of my discomfort; it should never have been Bill who won in ‘92. It should have been her all along. Every damn piece of baggage that had been attached to her was either GOP fuckery or Bill’s fuckery.
You can state as many facts as you want. Yes, there is a double standard big time. But I think Christie’s advice is solid. You can piss on the messenger if you want. But his message is a good one. And it does no harm. Harris has been going for as many parts of the electorate as she can. This is just one more way. Taking Clinton’s advice, such as it is (she’s doing all the right things), isn’t much. In the final 10 days, she needs to seal the deal.
then why the hell don’t you expect that from ■■■■■?
It might help if she used puppets and colorful drawings to help them understand.
First, it was way too early to accept a woman as a presidential candidate in 1992. And, even in 2016, that was an issue (to say nothing of 2024). Second, she’s was a neoliberal. Unbridled capitalism has led to a huge disparity in wealth. And look where that’s got us. Workers who have helped to make companies successful deserve to be rewarded, to be a fiscal and structural part of a company’s success. So, she had her own baggage.
I have no power. Of course the media is treating Trump and Harris by two different standards. It’s maddening. I don’t trust polls, I take everything I read and hear from the liberal side of the media with caution. I don’t forget that there’s money to be made in this election and CNN et al. will do what they can to make it. That isn’t badmouthing every CNN talking head. There are some good ones.
When it comes to looking at this social and political landscape, politicians and many in the media would like us to think the world is black and white. I think of it as a series of layered undulating grays, constantly in motion. Hard to figure out sometimes, sure as hell. But it ain’t black and white.
I mean, looking at the demographic polling info from this cycle misogyny is still the biggest impediment. I don’t think there’s a scenario where she would have won… but she should have.
And this is the thing that still sticks in my craw, but let’s be honest; she was a surrogate for her husband’s candidacy. The older I get the more angry I get about how much he conceded to the hateful right. An unfettered Hilary would have been much different.
I agree, it’s a pointless thought experiment, but it’s always bothered me how uncomfortable I feel about her, even though I have plenty of grievances (Iraq war vote, primarily), but in a different world, her trajectory would have been much, much different.
