The car was failing badly in many ways simultaneously, so I did try that but was not having good luck; fortunately the driveway appeared and made for an easier solution.

Yeah, you lucked out!
Everytime I pass one of those runaway truck ramps, I’m sorely (almost irresistibly) tempted to drive into it, even though it would be… well, ill-advised at best.
But it looks like fun, somehow.
