One of my kids speaks German with a Swabian accent/vocabulary, which is one of the reasons people assume she’s a native speaker…who learns that as a foreign language in school, right?

Yes, it’s still human speech so it’s still language, just not one that might be taught in a foreign country (of course there is probably a college somewhere outside Haiti that teaches Haitian Creole).
