Gmail already caches images and serves them through a proxy.

One of their ideas is to turn off HTML email completely I just want to remind you that it was Microsoft who thought html email was a great idea. Even worse adding basic programing to emails. Now back to our insecure internet.

Re: Google image caching: Mind you, Google is probably one of the biggest trackers around. If they supply anonymization services, it’s probably just to increase it’s value by denying other tracking firms and making the info more exclusive.
