How would you short London?

and yes - buying XBT is gambling really, not investing. Just so happens it’s the only thing out of EITHER all my investments and all my gambles that has ever made any money.

Be careful – the notion of European and American options is nothing more than a difference in the contract exercise terms. Nothing to do with ‘rules’ (I read that as legislation, correct me if I’m wrong) of the European Union, USA, or indeed the UK.

I was using “rules” loosely, as when you buy a financial contract you have to follow both the rules of the exchanges on which you buy and sell as well as governing legislation. We agree with the key point, which is that (most?) European option contracts do not allow for early exercise, which makes them much less useful financial instruments than in the US. (All IMO of course.)

No, this has nothing to do with, quote, ‘the US’. Option contracts come in various styles such as European, American, Bermudan, and Asian – Wikipedia explains the differences between these styles. Do not confuse these (admittedly unintuitive, but then you worked in finance so this isn’t news to you) terms to mean anything else, they have nothing to do with countries or unions thereof!

Waiting for a company to make money and shell some small piece of its profits out to you isn’t divesting, as I understand it.

Right. And Removing all money from the market, is, right?

Now maybe go read what I wrote. I think you’ve misunderstood my action and said I was describing it incorrectly. I don’t think I was.

I met some creeps from GS, met them, not met with them, just met them. And I got out of the market very shortly thereafter. I had been invested, then I was not. I divested. Clearer?

Don’t make your bet now, wait until the crash and buy some rental properties at cheap rates. Take care of them and rent them at market prices. If you see a huge boom like this again, sell them.

Repeat.

heh. That was apparently my 666th post.

Oh, I see the misunderstanding, I wasn’t referring to your action in the stockmarket. Actually, it’s possible I replied to the wrong post in the first place. It’s been long enough that I’m a little fuzzy on the details, but all I remember wanting to say it that all investment doesn’t have to be a bet about the shareprice.

I see your misunderstanding, and i raise you three quataloo
