HOWTO prevent people from sending to your Gmail account via Google Plus

Been using Google+ since the begining and i have to say what bugged me most about it is how often the interface has changed and grown bloated with no way of reverting to something simpler.

The default setting on mine was “Everyone.” Not sure why our experience would differ there but I took the opportunity of this event to go in and clean up my G+ settings and get them in line with my comfort level. Maybe you’d already done yours and it tipped them off to what you’d prefer?

Or perhaps you’re in a different country than I am and Legal informed them that feature should be Opt-in for residents there.

I think you are correct on both accounts.

I tend to be fairly privacy aware when it comes to joining any social media service and tend to lock down my services fairly tight from the get go. Moreover, I’m in Canada, a country with a fairly strong privacy regime. For example, it was our federal privacy commissioner who took Facebook to court, and eventually forced them to provide their users with ability to actually delete their accounts and have all the content associated with that account removed from the service entirely.
