I rather like the replacement. It’s very obviously not original, it does not obscure any extant features (the original head was lost), it was crafted with love and devotion (in more than one sense), it’s refreshingly art brut or something - a nice contrast to the rest of the statue. Reminds me of some contemporary ceramics artist whose name escapes me (NOT referring to kintsugi). Also makes me think of Chris Ofili’s much maligned-African Madonnas (the ones with porn and dung - very droll to describe, rather impressive in person).
