This gives too much credence to the 10% idea. That whole thing is based on absolutely nothing that anybody can find. It’s not even wrong.
I called it a fallacy. I don’t know how that could possibly be considered giving credence.

I think it’s the sound of the bat hitting the ball. Years of observation¹ have taught us that at that point the ball will travel away from the bat. When it doesn’t happen suddenly there is only a very short timespan for the brain to react.

¹ I mean general observation on how physics work. One doesn’t need to have grown up watching baseball for the brain to subconsciously expect the ball to fly away upon that sound
