a new transplant for us, it is one of these “braided” three stalk plants that blooms in three different colors. can’t say I’ve ever seen one flower like this. (frankly, I prefer the simple, red, “Ed Hardy” Hawaiian type, but gotta say - this one’s pretty cool!)

That is the busiest I’ve seen that little stream for a while, there’s new water pipes being laid in town, perhaps the drainage is affected?
When I lived in Nottingham there was a canal at the bottom of my garden, literally over the fence, every now and again you got to see a canal boat try and turn around. Unsuccessfully.
Kicked some leaves last week and uncovered this little guy, probably a southern redback salamander (Plethodon serratus). Definitely one of the cold blooded, lungless Plethodontidae, and surprisingly wriggly considering it was well below freezing temperature at the time.
