Cub scouts, mostly first graders. I make the plans for the adults to “help” make them. I only put together about six pre-cut kits for the kids with less-capable parents, or no parents. The older scouts work straight off the plan.

I can still remember the curtain of shredded skin on my thumb when my attention drifted while using a hacksaw in shop class when I was 6. Cub scouts these days have it so easy!

Flew into MIA this morning, got some pics of interesting Everglades landforms.
That’s a road. I have no idea what all those humps are. Hills? Seems unlikely. Giant clumps of grass? Mangroves?
Why are these ponds (?) all oriented the same way?

I’m assuming these lakes are oriented north-south. The Everglades is essentially a very wide, very slow-moving river (“river of grass”) draining from Orlando to the Keys. So when water flow slows and pools on the way south, these elongated lakes along the north-south water flow.
(Not a geologist, just dredging my memory from when I lived in Broward County and explored a little of the area)
