I didn’t see the topic - I don’t read BB to be part of a forum, I read it for the articles. So I wasn’t on the look out for topics not related to articles. Also I was trying to give the new comment style a go and not immediately go into “it’s new and I don’t like it.”
So I wasn’t there commenting. I can go there and say this all again if you like. But that’s kind of the point - I didn’t come here to chat to other people about what ever comes to mind - I came here to chat about the article we are all reading. This new commenting system makes that harder and less community based - I can’t get into a discussion with a group about one aspect of the discussion when I can’t see all the various responses about it.
Another thing - simpler to fix I’m sure - is that seeing when someone commented is harder - the font is very faint and hard to read.
Flat versus threaded may be religious - Certainly I don’t like flat. I will put up with it on some pages. Increasingly I will not read a site which uses it unless it is special (to me) for some reason and there I tend to skip the comments altogether. I prefer to be able to skim past some arguments and focus on what is happening with another. A flat structure is fine when there are less than 50 comments. Over that and it starts to annoy me and I’ll skip it.
