If you are in the US check with the FAA first. They have a stick up their butts about air traffic interruptions. Just say’n.
My kids wanted a fun summer project for the upcoming summer vacation, so I had suggested doing exactly this.

From a quick read of the Kickstarter page and FAA Part 101 (the parts about moored ballons and kites), I think their kites and balloons are small enough that the Part 101 regulations do not apply. At least outside restricted and prohibited areas (such as near airports).
