Kindle Unlimited is being flooded with 3,000-page garbage books that suck money out of the system

Of course the current system is a total failure. I just meant that it is not so easy to come up with something that is really good by all measures.

I have had Kindle Unlimited for six months (ain’t now because unemployed) and as an avid reader it was a great way to sample books (most of the time the truly relevant chapters of a technical book are off the preview pages). As an artist I always try to pay the author of the content I consume. I truly wish that Kindle Unlimited could be fair to them. I have lots of friends that are independent authors publishing their work via Amazon. Some are on Unlimited. I have no desire to see them screwed.

I’m not sure about quantities but I have had KU and I do buy the books I like after reading them. Some I have purchased the ebook and the physical book, because I dislike the idea of buying a license to have an ebook that could someday just vanish because the publisher and Amazon had a fight.

I have spent so much time trying to find good books between the fluffy, vanity and spammy books that Kindle Unlimited became really terrible to browse. I wish there was a curated option that weeded out the crap. The quantity of crap overwhelmed the quality stuff.

Ehh…I like the Kindle unlimited. I mostly use it for the light reading sci-fi romance novels coughporncough and can go though about 14 books a month. I don’t really care if the spelling, etc. Isn’t there, if the main story is decent.

It is what it is. I do have more to say in other venues, but publishing is hard for authors. Some are in denial, but for those who do see it, trying to open new venues is meant to give authors more choice and control, and that is not a bad thing.
