I can hear the billing person now “how do we know this is all due to mistakes being made…”
For profit healthcare means, as a rule, never act like you messed up, or say you’re sorry, as avoiding blame is a cost savings.

This is in no way comparable to your experience, but I used to be a courier for a clinical lab. My “career” (part-time, min wage) was never in jeopardy. I personally agonized the few times I broke a sample. I imagined my grandmother with her compromised veins having to be drawn again because of some lab worker’s fumble fingers.
