Some comedian I cant recall right now had one of the most poignant statements in his set that I’ve ever heard from a male ally; when he mentioned that he was a father of two little girls and that he was for women’s rights, the crowd cheered, and he retorted back:
“Hey, I’m not for women’s rights just because I made some ‘little women.’”
Also, women deserve to be seen as equal on their own without being “claimed” by some relationship to others. If women are only seen as relevant because they have relatives that still hasn’t happened.
Yes it is disgusting and the whole world is complicit in the continuing attiude. One of the now richest Internet company started itself on this very premise and they got a free pass and the instigator is now one of the richest men in the world… I do not and have not ever had an account or knowingly used Facebook/Meta or its companies for this very reason not because I am any better than anybody but its my very small protest against this
It is not a hypothesis (what most people mean when they say “theory”). I was born male. I identify male. I search my surroundings just like this study for danger because I spent the bulk of my adult life in dangerous countries and dangerous situations. It is a learned behavior.
I haven’t commented until now because this is not about me. It is about women, the reality they face every fucking second of every fucking day since the beginning of time.
This is about listening to @anon61221983 and @Melizmatic and @anon23281680 and every other woman on this thread who’ve told us the reality they face, and learning how we men can be allies and help make their lives safer.
Please, accept that we men are the problem even when we try our best to be allies, and listen to how we can do better.
