HIPAA is ok with this?
I’ll go ahead and put one vote in for the privacy violations doing more damage than any public health benefits that would be gained

HIPAA has a permitted uses and disclosures and there is one for public interest and benefits, which includes communicable diseases. It also states that it exempts a whole lot of groups from privacy enforcement. Furthermore, you’d be surprised to learn that they can summarize a person’s health care for employers so that they can obtain bids from all sorts health insurance providers prior to the enrollment process.

We really need to separate healthcare from employment.
