Amen. We are busy congratulating ourselves on our own (actually pretty pathetic) vaccine efforts, while leaving a huge population of unvaccinated people for the damn bug to experiment with to find new pathways. It’s almost like nobody wants to listen to the experts, you know?

ETA: Just to be clear, vaccinating poorer countries is very much worthwhile in and of itself, for the human lives involved. But if we need to invoke self-interest, which it seems we do, it is pretty damned evident that if we won’t do it because it is the right thing to do, we should sure as hell do it because it’s the right thing for us!
