Oh, you meant drivers for them are bad! I thought you meant trackpads themselves are a pain in the ass… My bad.
I would say this is probably less of an issue than you give it credit for.
It certainly helps to use the terminal but if you’re the sort of person who would otherwise buy a laptop with Windows 10 installed and never fiddle with it (i.e. probably 90% of users?), Ubuntu (other flavours are available and may be far gribblier) will do you just as well without ever opening Terminal or even knowing it exists.
Whether one likes it or not, Ubuntu really has (in my view at least) managed to replicate the feel of Windows/Mac type desktop and UI quite well.
It does occasionally break in weird, inexplicable ways, but the answer to that is NOT to look for the terminal command, it is to back up, format and reinstall. Just like it is with Windows. Once that damascene moment of revelation is reached, you’re fine
That Verge article does absolutely nothing to disprove OP’s claim, just complains that phones are more expensive. Have you even read it?
We have no idea yet if the X will have a longer lifespan than the 8, both are still supported just fine
Also applies to every other Smartphone maker. Will Samsung support their Notes longer than regular Galaxys (Galaxies maybe, how do you pluralize a brand name?) ? How about one of their A-line phones?
Did Vertu phones get longer support than plain old Nokias?
