“Yes, I’m the captain of the…”
Deep sigh.
“Costa Deliziosa.”
Eyes return to the bottom of his Negroni glass.

Damn, you don’t really comprehend the scale of the thing until it slides by the other boat.

It seems the tug boat owners charge a hefty fee for that kind of work anywhere in the world.

I never planned to take an Italian cruise, but this + the Costa Concordia just about settles it…

Yes, big boats.
And the Costa’s do have a bit of a reputation.

It feels terrifying unless you are familiar with ships like that. There is a 100% certainty that the ship had a local ‘pilot’ on board whose only job is to help large vessels come into the port safely. That combined with the tug boat operators means that there was very little likelihood of any actual problem.

I’ve been on large cargo ships in tight spots, and while it looks terrifying, it is actually less of a hazard than you think.

Just imagine that in the age of sail though…

And yet all of light patio chairs and tables were stationary … hmmm; I’m not sure I believe the story.

You say, “near crash;” they say, “perfect docking.”

I think Costa Deliziosa makes the best pizza rolls. Much better than Totino’s.
