North Carolina town rejects solar because it'll suck up sunlight and kill the plants

Somebody warn the EPA about the massive ignorance spill

This feels like a troll to me.

Surely, you mean:

To be fair, that town does seem deep in darkness.

I think this is another case where partisan bias just blocks all rational thought. I mean that has to be it. I wish shit like this was never a political pawn.

This might be more appropriate:

This woman is proof that we need to reinstate IQ tests for voters. We need to disqualify her and all the other Donald Trump supporters.

I think you’re on track here. It’s heading that way.

We just installed a pretty big solar PV system on our roof, enough to power our whole house and at least one electric car; we’re waiting on the rest of the battery system because the right type of batteries are in short supply right now. The solar company we bought it from structured the deal to give us a crazy amount of tax credits, making it way cheaper than it might have been; and part of that is because they are doing so many installations right now on warehouse and commercial building roofs, so they offered us a deal where we effectively own a chunk of some business’s solar installation for the next 18 months, collecting the payments from them and the tax credits on it. (That’s the simple version; I think they have hired accountants from Yuggoth who are experts in non-Euclidean tax accounting. But I digress as usual.)

Edit: Anyway, the point was that here in Hawaii where electricity is expensive and sunlight plentiful, businesses are starting to put solar PV on their roofs like crazy, because it is obviously in their own best interest to do so even when they aren’t getting any tax benefit from it, just getting cheaper power. As PV continues to get cheaper, that will happen everywhere else too.

When all along its the sun which sucks the dark out of the panels.

There’s also no such thing as gravity.

The Earth sucks.

No its more like saying that the universe pushes on particles to cram them together. Mass doesn’t suck at all.

Cuddly atoms!!!

Okay, anybody want to help put together a scientific paper that’s based on molecular snuggliniess?

(Whether it’s out of love or fear of the unknown is totally up in the air, I think)

My college physics lecturer told my class that the second law of thermodynamics disproves evolution because life on Earth runs against entropy.

Wait… So… All those astronauts didn’t actually get to the moon? Or did they have to cut through some kind of firmament? Because last time I checked, the 2nd Law of thermodynamics is only applicable to closed systems…

Yeah you and I know (and my lecturer agreed) that the earth and sun comprise a single, mostly closed system. Entropy on earth would run as normal without the sun pouring in energy. I got the impression that this was something he had to say for religious reasons because he finished the conversation with I suppose its about what you believe.

The crazy thing is that otherwise the was a really smart guy.

What the WHAT? Did you go to Liberty University, or Bob Jones or somewhere? This isn’t even slightly controversial, and we can prove this stuff in our back yards with flashlights and plexiglass bakeware!
