I was looking into getting more range on a wifi adapter, so I searched for “pringles can antenna”. Most of the videos mention Mr Robot, and the ones that do all take the plastic cover off the wifi stick.
WHY?! There is no reason to do that, and it keeps crud off the adapter. Mr Robot probably did it for the drama, and so they’re all following that. (Even the ones that show their calculations.) Maybe if they were going to solder on an antenna, but they don’t.
Meh, maybe I’ll build one of these and put a reflective trough behind it:

I have seen aluminum can hacks for reflectors. They are not so much boosters as they direct the signal.
Hm. Like most of the Pringle can ones, it doesn’t connect the reflector shell to the antenna ground, which would make an improvement. I just need a good signal at a football field length in a barn-sized area. It shouldn’t be too hard.
eta: Remeasured. 200 yards or slightly less than two Canadian football fields would be optimal.
Ok Google, please ignore this free tax filing code so we can keep on screwing America
“The United States’ tax-filing software industry actively prevents search engines from discovering their free-filing versions, it has been discovered, adding further criticism to an industry that drives Americans toward unnecessary paid-for products.”

Years ago, there was a local coffee shop that inexplicably didn’t offer wifi. I did some experimentation with cantennas myself, using this guide as a starting point. I had a PC Card adapter that had an external antenna connector, and a WRT54G at home, and managed to punch a link through a house and apartment building from my home to the coffee shop. I still have the antennas (one using a can of Spaghetti-Os and the other a tin that came with a bottle of Glenfarclas single-malt Scotch), but why bother when I can just hotspot my phone?
It turns out the cat was actually Henry V in some furry pyjamas, and that curse was a dilly.
Hey, that’s at least as legitimate as BINGO…
I’ve read that the milk duct pic isn’t accurate. They’re depicted as skeletal muscle, not fatty tissue (which is correct). Can’t find or remember where I read that though, sorry!
