Hah, I remember this!

This hit #1 on various charts in Canada, Ireland, the UK top 40 and elsewhere, and I heard it played repeatedly on the radio back then.

It’s interesting to me that, 20+ years later, a lot of this advice still rings true (or more true now, with the benefit of a few decades of hindsight.)


I mean…

“Accept certain inalienable truths Prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too, will get old And when you do, you’ll fantasize that when you were young Prices were reasonable, politicians were noble And children respected their elders.”

Yeah. Still true.


I learned to hate this song because of the constant rotation on radio, and the number of times the lyrics were sent out as “inspirational” by people in workplaces, without attribution.
