OnlyFans reverses decision to ban sexy folk

Where we pay you to keep your clothes on and the camera turned off? I don’t take kindly to threats, sir!

A threat to some, a special moment to others.

The difference is that New Coke didn’t involve thousands of workers potentially losing their jobs because of a stunt they never consented to be a part of.

How exactly are they reversing the policy? Wasn’t it primarily driven by payment processors that threatened to ban OnlyFans if they didnt get rid of sexually explicit content?

Axios claimed that Onlyfans couldn’t get VC funding because

  • Some VC funds are prohibited from investing in adult content, per limited partnership agreements.

https://www.axios.com/onlyfans-investors-struggle-9cc92523-6607-40ad-9893-4175e7966b52.html

These agreements are also referred to as covenants and vice clauses and are discussed in more detail here.

Vice clauses are a traditional part of a limited partnership agreement for venture capital funds. Even funds which might prefer to have flexibility in these matters often adopt such clauses in order to market themselves to other funds and institutional capital. Given that religious organizations and sovereign wealth funds are often major investors in venture capital, fund managers are asked to choose between vice investments and capital.

but this sort of pressure is relaxed after the IPO, because the company now has money and a broader base of investors.

The article you (might) be referring to was about Pornhub, and was reported by generally good human being Nicholas Kristof at the NY Times:

I’m imagining it will be an outdoor desert shot of you delivering cocktails to dear wife in tiny speedos :joy:

You’re right, I totally mixed them up. That explains why all my searches turned up empty.
Thanks!

How the cocktail got into the tiny speedo, I’ll never know…

Allegedly he is a witting or unwitting pawn of conservative Christians who want to outlaw the entire sex industry.

If the cryptocoin crowd can’t figure out a way to replace reluctant credit card processors in this arena, it is time for a reality check.

“Gosh, maybe we don’t have a viable business model if we eliminate all the people who make up our actual business, and everyone knows it! Huh, who could have known!? Besides everyone, I mean.”

“We’re definitely going to look into what our actual business model is. Hopefully our second attempt to convince you all it’s not what it actually is will be more successful than the first one.”

“Maybe we can convince enough people our business model isn’t what we know it is, just long enough for us to get ours. Maybe?”

It’s so weird to see a business so obviously intent on destroying itself.

Nicholas Kristof carries a lot of water for the anti-pornography contingent.

Well there’s your fucking problem right there. The comment that’s been in my head is “why can’t onlyfans be happy just to take their transaction fees and be a business? Why do they need investors?” But man that takes on a much harder edge when you apply it to churches. Jesus (both colloquially and literally) remind me why churches have excess capital to invest in gambling rackets again?

Every year since 2013, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, or NCOSE, has published a “Dirty Dozen” list of companies they believe are “major contributors to sexual exploitations.” New to the list in 2021 was OnlyFans.com

Oh, heck, they’ve curated a list?! I’ve legit been thinking of becoming a content creator (hey, recently divorced GILF that’s gone through a lot of self-discovery and self-empowerment), I gotta check this out… Amazon, Chromebook, Discord, EBSCO Information Services (online learning), Netflix, Nevada, OnlyFans, Reddit, Seeking Arrangement, Twitter, Verisign (.com/.net registration), and… Wish.

:disappointed:

Apparently, there is more to this than banking and puritanism. Turns out that they got busted giving illegal content up loaders that generated a lot of revenue extra passes on clearly illegal content and the no sex move is them trying to backpedal very clumsily. I’m surprised none of the other outlets are even mentioning this very relevant fact.

Internal documents, leaked to BBC News, reveal that OnlyFans allows moderators to give multiple warnings to accounts that post illegal content on its online platform before deciding to close them.
Described as a “compliance manual”, the documents also show that staff are asked to be more lenient towards successful accounts on the British content-sharing service.
