I would imagine he returned only to take after photos. He probably can’t do the befores at this point.
Those are striking photos, and it’s incredible to see how much has been accomplished (or not) in 10 years. That giant dam near the end is pretty amazing.

That was an amazing cleanup job.
The before photos are by various different photographers anyway.
I’d really like to see “before tsunami - after tsunami - ten years after tsunami” photos for real context.
