Correct. A skewed perspective of the political spectrum, like the artist of this cartoon has, is a bad take, and the Democratic Party will continue to lose elections if they keep floating non-liberals like Uncle Joe and Mayor Pete as even semi-viable candidates.
Perspectives will differ. My personal extrapolation from the cartoon: Anyone who truly wants Trump out of office – but remains as absolutist as MAGAists – may not like what they find on the morning of 9/5/2020. Me? I have a couple of Dem favorites, but whoever makes it through the Dem primary, has got my vote.
I’d love to disincentive “constitutional hardball”. As long as there exists an extreme right capable of exploiting our generosity of spirit, there’s a disincentive to be nice.
That the election is two months away and this shit is still going on?
Seriously though, if the shit hits the fan and I have to support Biden or Buttigieg or whomever, then I will hold my nose and vote for them in the general election. I will not support them now when there are much better options available.
I think we’re in the same camp here.
Maybe, but there are a lot of people in that camp. There’s not really a “far left” who will go home and sulk if their preferred candidate doesn’t get in.
There are very few things that I am “not really” or “really” about… but – as far as I know – there’s never been an actual 100% turnout in any general election. And I’m guessing that in all those general elections, more than a few potential voters – wherever they are on the spectrum – ended up voting with their feet. What can you do. People.
