I just hope that some techie, who deals with just the right piece of equipment has quietly disarmed the entire stockpile. A simple wire attached to the wrong spot.

That simple act someday saves the world.

Ooooh! Next question! Where do we stick the key to his mineshaft?

Well that’s just lovely!

I would watch this movie.

This idea was put to good literary use in Nancy Collins’ short story, “Iphigenia”, in the short story anthology “There Won’t Be War”. The narrator is a young girl who had the codes surgically implanted inside her.

Morally lost is the nuance you’re missing there. And there’s good arguments to suggest those two detonations were completely unnecessary to victory.

It’s a great question – why do the UN peacekeepers carry weapons? – but it hardly matters since their rules of engagement are so completely stupid they never use them to keep the peace. Not in Rwanda, not in Srebrenica. Last time I think the UN actually took a meaningful shot in anger was in the 1960 Congo crisis. Fuck them.
