MedStar has something like ten hospitals in the region. This could end up being pretty bad, depending on how interconnected their systems are.

well I guess there will be a new market for IT security guys in the medical field soon.

Maybe there needs to be some liability of some kind to encourage places like this to use secure systems.

My friend is an IT guy at a smaller hospital. He said he’s had an attack before, but saved everything via backups. Not sure if it was ransom or something else, but thus far he kept it contained.
