Subreddits are much more designed for drive-by driving trollies and metastasizing than other forms of social media, they are making money from the sense of “community” in a different (more web 2.0?) style than the rest of social media.
For that reason I don’t see Reddit, BoingBoing, or your local newspaper’s comments board to be a “common carrier” and encourage /r/coontown - style discussions to spring up in their “benign neglect”.
