What is newsworthy about this story is not that Russia is spreading disinformation through English language sites (which we knew, and isn’t particularly new) but that US intelligence is choosing this juncture to publicize the fact.

My first reaction was because it’s a good way to spread the word to the the ignorant base that haven’t or couldn’t find them on their own.
