Sounds like some legal shenanigans — CroFab was approved by the FDA way back in 2000. Typically, that would put generics in the market in about 10 years.

Pharmaceutical production should be done by the people (govt).

It already is (or at least 90% of the actual research into new pharmaceuticals is done by publicly funded universities).
