You find the same to varying degree in all countries.

the eu standard is to count probable deaths. not sure that every country is doing it, but i guess that caused a big uptick in ireland’s deaths last week. we’re definitely far from that method

COVID-19 statistics and other disturbing things

it sounds like they switched this week to counting probable deaths instead of just confirmed. their numbers also seem maybe daily up to date. the us reporting causes i guess depends per state. and the cdc numbers, according to what cnn said at least, lag by maybe a week or two.
