Exactly. And just for giggles I fired up a VM and continued to find a PDF that is quite screwed up… funny stuff.

Yeah, simple steps your small organization can take to defend itself against cyberattacks:

  1. Don’t download and execute random PDFs from unknown sources.

Use Linux! To prove it to myself I went to a known bad site, downloaded a few different files and nothing happened. I’m willing to do it again, just have to setup a sacrificial pc. Yea I’m not that confident.

‘The cloud’ … in other words: ‘someone else’s computer’.

Any security article espousing moving things to the cloud is criminally insecure.

‘The Cloud’ is essentially moving your data to a storage locker. If your house gets burgled, your storage locker probably will be safe, but it still isn’t under your direct control and if someone takes an interest in it, it may be ransacked anyhow.

Exactly. Why not namecheck the “security professionals” at Equifax and Yahoo as well?
