I love this idea, and would actually use it if there were a “friends only” privacy option. It doesn’t help to replace sites that use unethical data sharing with sites that use unrestrained data sharing. Also there’s nothing I want to share with every random stranger on earth.

I liked the idea behind Scuttlebutt (What is not to love about Merkle Trees). However when I couldn’t get it to build on plain Debian. I instantly thought, I’m never going to get anyone in my social group to use this.

Checking in again it looks like they have prebuilt images now and cellphone apps. It may be worth a try… or not. Too many painful memories of NodeJS errors are inside my head.
