It seems, this is just an observation, that in a consumer society, happiness comes from knowing others envy you ( while ignoring the fact that others resent you), and so if you make all people able to have the same thing that stress or drive wouldn’t be there.
Christ, people would lose their minds and start eating human flesh…
Yeah, I took @NickSay’s comment too literally even though he meant it in jest. It’s just that I find the modern conception of happiness overrated since its only a fleeting feeling contingent on our perceived influence external factors have on our internal emotional state. By which I mean people don’t claim to be happy because they feel happy, but rather, too many people profess that the emotions they feel when they experience the things that they believe should make them happy, are happy feelings.
