Telcoms lobbyists oppose ban on throttling firefighters' internet during wildfires

While here in the UK I get 20Gb of data, free calls to certain numbers and unlimited texts for $29.

The problem is if they don’t get deprioritized when their allotment runs out they have no incentive to pay for the level of service they actually need.

Perhaps with the legislature should do is require that the telecoms offer a $ per GB option in lieu of deprioritization. Pick that and if you use too much data you run up a bill rather than getting throttled.
