Musk admitted that Hyperloop was intended to undermine public support for the California high speed rail project. He could safely admit that because Hyperloop is only a concept that he published for free and he has never made any money from it. All the companies with Hyperloop in their names that have actually tried to make it work are independent and have no connection to Musk.

Partly out of a sense of frustration with all this stuff, I have been compiling a timeline of predictions for the arrival of fully self-driving cars. Musk features heavily, but he’s not the only one.

Yes, although think a more apt parallel is voice recognition, which has been in development for literally 50 years and never quite gets to the level of accuracy needed to do anything of any actual importance.

He’s going to put his money and X to get Florida Man elected in exchange for stopping all investigations into his crooked dealings. Plus he can blackmail with threats of shutting down Starling or SpaceX will have service interruptions that are crucial to the ISS. Billionaires are going to end up killing all their customers and living in their sealed bunkers desperately trying to clone themselves to stay immortal.
