I believe the manga/anime BLAME! demonstrates the horrifying outcome of such a state.

(That’s the one with the exponentially expanding city, right? It expands because the operating systems disagree on how “balanced” the city is, and nobody can figure out how to shut it down anymore.)

What’s with all the Wikipedia hate lately? Are things really getting that bad, or are we just among the first to pick up on it? Or is there something else going on?

I’ve noticed a few problems there recently, but I’m just a casual editor, not a serious wikipedian.
