Is this related to that phenomenon, in which – when you ask a young kindergarten class to put their hands on their heads, while (at the same time) putting your own hands on your shoulders – a substantial bunch of students will nod knowingly and put their hands on their shoulders, and many of them have no idea that they didn’t follow directions?
