I only read Narnia as a later teen and I found the couple I read after the first three(?) to be sickeningly christofascist and racist.

A lot of European catholics would have been fans of Franco even if they weren’t so hot on Mussolini and wanted Hitler dead (Mussolini appealed to “intellectuals” rather than religious types).
